This unique, self-guided study manual provides our most comprehensive set of materials designed to help refresh and enhance your knowledge on many of the major, need-to-know areas of information required for drug and alcohol written examinations.  Newly revised - this manual is our most comprehensive manual that will help you prepare for the IC&RC, NAADAC, and the American Academy of Health Care Providers written exams.  It includes a 150-question sample written exam - designed to make you feel more comfortable when taking the actual exam as well as to help you focus your study and preparation time. 

While the manual cannot guarantee success in passing your exams, it can provide needed resources to assist you in your preparation.

Item #W401 - Getting Ready to Test: The Written Examination

A "How to Take the Written Test" manual. 

This review manual includes information specific to the structure of the IC&RC exam (the exam used by most states), information and tips on test taking, and information on how to best prepare for your exam.  It includes a 75-question sample exam,  along with a scoring key and content review to help you determine if there are any areas of weakness that would require additional study/review. It also contains information on the most recent IC&RC test format, and includes samples of the new clinical knowledge questions incorporated into the exam in 2008.  


Item #Q402 - Getting Ready to Test: The Oral Examination

A "How to Take the Oral Test" manual. 

Includes information on the structure of both the ICRC and NAADAC oral exams, information on writing your case history, and information on how to prepare your answers in advance of the exam. 

Materials include sample responses to assist you in preparing your own responses. 

Many IC&RC states are no longer using the oral exam as part of the testing process.  Be sure to check with you own State Board to determine if they are still requiring the oral examination.


Item #M404SUP - Getting Ready to Test: A Supplemental Review/Preparation Manual for the IC&RC Advanced Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Credentialing Examination

Many states that are part of the IC&RC Consortium offer and Advanced AODA credential for counselors with Masters degrees and higher.  This credential requires candidates to take and pass the Advanced Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Credentialing examination.  This exam is 175-questions in length, and covers the same domains as the regular AODA exam PLUS adds two additional domains - Research Design, Analysis & Utilization, and Clinical Supervision.  This supplemental guide is intended to provide content information in those two domains, as well as 25 sample questions that focus on these two additional areas.  It is NOT intended to be a stand-alone review manual.
